Drekan EPCS testing facilities project will ensure proven performance

Drekan is a leading supplier of Rotating Machinery Electrical Solutions (RMES), including variable speed drive systems (VSDS), soft starter systems, direct on-line motors. To verify equipment functionality and load performance, Drekan developed state-of-the-art testing facilities in Beautor (FR). They enable Drekan to give evidence that the equipment under test meets customer requirements and reduces installation and commissioning time spent onsite.

MOTOR & GENERATOR TESTING AT DREKAN

The DREKAN electric motor test facility is actually built in our Beautor plant, our bigger workshop, where a team of motor testing experts will carry out tests up to 10mW under load and up to 50mW with no load – in accordance with the latest state of technology. In order to further expand our testing service, there are two clamping fields that allow a smooth test process. This way we can use the capacities of the test facility optimally to the benefit of our customers.

All measurements and motor tests are carried out and documented in an electric motor test report in compliance with the EN 60034 standards. However, our test facility engineers and technicians also have extensive experience and expertise with the test requirements of various inspection bodies at home and abroad. Our motor test stand also meets all technical prerequisites for validating internationally required quality standards and parameters.

See the function and performance of our electric motors for yourself! If you want, you can even be present during the check of your motors. For this purpose, an appropriately sound-protected and heated visitor cabin has been integrated into the DREKAN motor test facility. From there, you can witness all of the details of the test process.

Beautor – Test bay #1 : For LV AC et DC motors
Test Bay 1 covers a total area of 1000 square meters and features a fixed installation that integrates 2 M/G (motor/generator) sets as variable frequency AC sources: a 1.250kW AC 690V, a 800kW AC 400V to provide the tested machines a Sinus variable frequency sources without any risk for machine witch not support electronic VFD. This bay can run motors up to 5mW on no load test. The bay also has a 1250kW DC M/G set to drive DC motors, including old compound traction motors. A 1250kW DC machine connected to the grid through a 4Q DC drive is used as a variable speed load. Download data sheet >
Beautor – Test bay #2 : For MV AC motors

Test Bay 2 covers a total area of 1.000 square meters and features a fixed installation that integrates a 7,5MW M/G set to provide the tested machine a Sinus variable frequency sources without any risk for machines that don’t support VFD electronics. Thanks to a large 5mVAR power bank, this bay can run motors up to 20mW on no-load tests.

A DC tridem of 3×2,5mW can be used to load the machine up to 7,5mW. This Bay also has a complete medium voltage distribution to supply 3,3KV 5,5KV 6.6kV or 11kV, a closed-loop water cooling system for customer machine cooling, and a measurement system specifically designed for mechanical torquing and electrical harmonic measurement.

Beautor – Test bay #3 : For large MV AC machine testing

Test Bay 3 covers a total area of 2.000 square meters and features a fixed installation that integrates a 18/36MW Synchronous M/G set drive by a VFD (ABB ACS 5069 18MVA). This bay can be used to run motors up to 80mW on no-load tests and on variable speed.

A 4P Synchronous generator can be used to load machines up to 18MVA on a fixed 50HZ frequency. Like for bay 2, Bay 3 also has a complete medium voltage distribution to supply 6kV, 6.6kV or 11kV, a close water-cooling system for customer machine cooling, and a measurement system specifically designed for mechanical torque and electrical harmonic measurement.
